Material Science Innovation

Pioneering high-tensile polysilicate biopolymers to radically diminish environmental footprint.

Overview

The diagnostic industry generates millions of tons of biomedical polymer waste annually. The BiQadx Material Science division engineered the Eco-Labware composite—a truly compostable biopolymer that does not sacrifice the optical clarity or mechanical rigidity required for high-throughput testing.

Architecture & Design

The polymer matrix is derived from polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) and polysilicate nanocoatings. The polysilicate layer acts as an absolute oxygen and moisture barrier, ensuring the necessary 24-month shelf life for lyophilized reagents. Upon disposal in standard industrial composting conditions (EN 13432), microbial enzymatic action breaks the ester bonds, fully metabolizing the cartridge in under 180 days.
