Acoustofluidics — Cell Lysis-Free Separation
2 MHz standing acoustic wave fields exert radiation pressure on cells for lysis-free separation.
Overview
The BiQadx Acoustofluidic module fundamentally reimagines pre-analytical sample preparation. By replacing mechanical centrifugation with precision acoustic wave patterns, we achieve single-step, lysis-free continuous flow cell separation.
Architecture & Design
A piezoelectric transducer array generates a stable acoustic standing wave across the microfluidic channel. Particles within the fluid experience an acoustic radiation force, driving them towards the pressure nodes or antinodes depending on their acoustic contrast factor. Erythrocytes and leukocytes migrate at different velocities, allowing continuous spatial bifurcation into separate outlet channels without inducing shear-stress related hemolysis.
